“The Man of La Mancha” that opened at the Music Circus is an impressive production, smart and smartly imagined, relying more on the strength of the music and the book than on props and gimmicks. That, and of course, some excellent singing and acting.  Unlike some productions that create a fantastic world in which to act out Quixote’s tale, this staging, directed by Guy Stroman, never lets us forget that the locale is supposed to be a prison. The sound design, with its frighteningly loud and echoing effects each time a member of the Inquisition enters, is especially effective. It is an organic and perfectly believable interpretation. The epiphany is real.”
